YSBC@CUHK – Hong Kong Jockey Club Youth Programme has organised S.I. Leaders Sharing and S.I. Leadership Workshops in October – November 2017 for CUHK students and alumni who are interested in social entrepreneurship.
S.I. Leaders Sharing invited four young social entrepreneurs, including Mr. Noah Cheng (Co-founder of Wheel Thing Makers and GAAU1 UP), Ms. Comma Leung (Founder of Mosi Mosi), Mr. Clive Sit (Founder of made in sample) and Ms. Gigi Lo (Founder of Translate for Her) to share their experiences on establishing their social enterprises. They also shed light on how they manage to integrate their professions into their social entrepreneurship and the challenges they have encountered throughout their journey.
S.I. Leadership Workshop invited four speakers who discussed different social issues, project design methods, theories of social enterprise/business, and management skills. Mr. Wong Hung discussed “Reflection on Poverty Issue in Hong Kong – the Vulnerable Groups”, Mr. Yu Tsuen-Kweun and Dr. Luk Tak-Chuen discussed “Global Vision of Social Innovation –Regional & Global Experience”and Ms. Elsie Tsui discussed “Design Thinking”.
A Community Tour was also organized and 11 students and alumni visited Sham Shui Po, with the guidance of 2 YMCA social workers and local Kai Fong. The Community Tour explored the homelessness issue and problems arisen from redevelopment, at the same time much valuable local resources were discovered.
